What to do if you encounter an error with keypads connecting to Sidephone.

Summary

Remove and re-insert the keypad into Sidephone. If this does not work, or if there is a case applied to Sidephone that would make removing and re-inserting the keypad a challenge, restart the device.

Steps

  1. Remove and re-insert the keypad into Sidephone.
    If necessary, clear any debris that may have accumulated in the ports and may affect the connection.

  2. Restart the device.
    Restart Sidephone and ensure that a keypad is installed during the process.

  3. Attempt the above steps using alternative keypads.
    Is the problem isolated to a particular keypad? This can help to determine if Sidephone or the keypad are the issue.

Considerations

  • A keypad must be in the device when Sidephone is first powered on for any keypad to function. Keypads are hot swappable, but at least one needs to be in the device when it is initially powered on.

  • Restarting the device and powering it off periodically (e.g. at night) allows the phone and keypads to perform optimally.
