Turn Sidephone on or off

How to power your Sidephone on, power it off, and force restart it when unresponsive.

Updated over a week ago

Summary

Press the Power button for 2-3 seconds to turn your Sidephone on. Press and hold the Power button, then confirm Power off to turn it off.

Note: Before powering Sidephone on, it is best practice to have the keypad that you would like to use inside the device. Powering on the phone without any keypad inserted may lead to the keypads appearing to be unresponsive until the phone is restarted with the keypad inserted.

Steps

To turn Sidephone ON

  1. Locate the Power button on the right side of the device.

  2. Press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds and then release the Power button.

  3. The phone will power on after an additional 2-3 seconds and the Sidephone logo will appear.

To turn Sidephone OFF (normal shutdown)

  1. Press and hold the Power button for ~2 seconds.

  2. When the power menu appears, select Power off.

  3. Confirm Power off if prompted.

To force restart (device frozen/unresponsive)

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 10–15 seconds.

  2. Release when the screen goes black and the device restarts.

Edge Cases

  • No on-screen power menu appears: Continue holding the Power button for a forced restart.

  • Battery fully depleted: The phone will not power on until connected to a charger for several minutes.

  • Accessory keypad attached: Power button behavior remains the same regardless of keypad module.
