Summary
Press the Volume Up button (found on the side of the device) to increase sound and Volume Down to decrease it; you can also adjust volume from Settings for finer control.
Steps
Using the physical buttons
Press Volume Up to raise the volume
Press Volume Down to lower the volume
Tap the on-screen volume slider (if shown) to switch between media, call, and notification volume
Using Settings (precise control)
Open Settings
Go to Sound
Adjust the sliders for Media, Call, and Notifications to your preferred levels
This can also be opened by clicking the popup that appears when the physical volume buttons are pressed.
Muting
Press Volume Down repeatedly until the volume reaches the minimum level, or
In Settings → Sound, set the relevant slider to zero
Considerations
During a phone call: Volume buttons primarily control call volume, not media volume
While media is playing: Buttons default to media volume instead of ringtone volume
Do Not Disturb enabled: Notification sounds may remain muted even if volume is increased
Headphones/Bluetooth connected: Volume levels may be controlled separately from the phone’s speaker volume
During setup wizard or lock screen: Volume controls still work, but Settings access may be limited
When to Contact Support
Create a support ticket if the Volume Up/Down buttons do not change sound level at all in any context, or if volume changes on its own without user input
What to Collect for Support
Whether the issue occurs with speaker, headphones, or Bluetooth
Whether the problem happens during calls, media, or notifications (or all three)
Whether Do Not Disturb is on
Sidephone OS version or last update
Whether the physical buttons feel stuck or unresponsive
